Father's Day Baking

Father's Day has become a slightly challenging time for my daughter and I, as neither of us speak to or see our Dad's. However we try not to let this bother us and do what we can to enjoy the day anyway.

Father's Day this year was different but lovely for us, it started with having my brother and niece visit for breakfast, followed by afternoon tea made by me and taken to my Mum's, where we saw my step-dad for Father's Day, as over the years he has stepped in and been supportive of Amber and I. We then had a lovely mother and daughter trip to the cinema to see 'Cruella', which was fantastic and I would highly recommend. Not only did we love the film but it was so nice to get out and experience being at the cinema again, albeit in a slightly different way due to Covid.

I have to be honest it felt a bit hypercritical making lots of wonderful goodies for Father's Day, seeing as I do not speak to my own Dad, but it also felt rather therapeutic at the same time, as baking always does for me. It was nice to get orders pouring in from people who clearly adore their Dads and Grandad's and want to spoil them on this special day.

I took great pleasure in personalising cakes and biscuits with cute nicknames for Dad's and Grandad's, given by children and grandchildren. The reactions I got to some of the creations were amazing and genuinely brought a tear to my eye, knowing they would be so well received.
